Ways to use Inkfold
Inkfold works in any browser today, and a Windows desktop tester build is available to invited testers. The stable download is enabled only after Authenticode signing, checksum publication, and clean-machine installation evidence are complete.
Web app
Available now: sign in at app.inkfold.app in a desktop browser. Memory, answer receipts, one-click correction, chat import and the three storage modes work today. No download needed.
On your phone
In development: Inkfold is a responsive, installable web app. Adding it to your phone's home screen from a mobile browser is not yet certified across devices.
Windows desktop (invited testers)
In development: the tester build below adds local files you can ask about, tray controls, and an identity that needs no email. It bundles the local runtime, the command-line client and the Model Context Protocol server, which also preview connecting local coding tools (details below).
Inkfold Desktop 0.1.0 for Windows testers
This installer is not code-signed yet. Windows SmartScreen will warn before running it, and some machines refuse to launch it with “Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file.” Verify the SHA-256 checksum before installing.

- Install, sign in or create an identity, and confirm the local runtime starts.
- Record one decision in one tool, open a second tool on the same repository and check whether the decision arrives with its source; then export and delete it.
- Try one connected host and one connector, then uninstall cleanly.
- Report the result with the in-app reporter; your invitation email explains how to create a diagnostic bundle. Never paste secrets, vendor keys, recovery phrases, or private conversation content unless explicitly required.
Connections to coding tools (development preview)
Desktop
The Windows tester build includes the local runtime, the command-line client and the Model Context Protocol server. A signed stable release follows clean-machine verification.
Command-line client
The command-line client and the Model Context Protocol server are bundled in the Windows tester build above. There is no standalone public release yet.
Model Context Protocol and code editors
Coding tools connect through the local runtime as a development preview; no tool connection is certified yet. The table below gives the status of each tool on each operating system. Your invitation email includes the setup steps; no provider secrets are bundled.
Connections
Google and Microsoft connectors are in development and depend on your tester account. In every mode (Smart, Private or Incognito), connector sign-in tokens are kept in Inkfold's server-side vault.
Status by tool and operating system
Status on 24 September 2026. Preview means a code path exists in the development preview, not certified on that system. No tool connection is certified yet. On Windows, preview means included in the unsigned tester build above. There is no macOS or Linux installer; there, preview means installable from source by a developer.
Capture records prompts and answers from a tool into your memory. Recall searches your memory from inside a tool. Injection adds remembered context before a new prompt, through a hook, a generated project file or a Model Context Protocol call. Recall and injection are shown once per tool, with the same note on macOS and Linux.
